Mylab, YCCI Launch Indonesian Co-Production Programme At JAFF

Malaysia’s mylab is teaming with Yayasan Cipta Citra Indonesia (YCCI) to launch a new programme at this year’s Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF).

The new initiative, mylab+@Jogja, is supported by JAFF and Indonesia’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology.

Mylab director Lorna Tee explains that the new programme is different to the existing lab that took place online and at Busan film festival last year. “The focus is on co-producing with Indonesia, so applications are open to film projects by Indonesian filmmakers or international filmmakers looking to work on a project with Indonesian elements or partners,” Tee said.

“With such a vibrant and exciting growth happening in Indonesia right now, we’re really excited for this programme to happen in the biggest film festival in Yogjakarta, JAFF.”

The programme is described as a workshop for teams of scriptwriters, directors and producers to work on fiction feature film scripts and project development with international experts in scriptwriting, directing, producing, distribution and markets/festivals.

It will take place November 24-30 at JAFF in Yogyakarta, Indonesia, followed by online consultation and speed dating sessions at the end of February 2024.

YCCI, founded by Jakarta-based producer Meiske Taurisia, is also a partner on LOCK Full Circle Lab, which wrapped in Jakarta this week. As a producer, her credits include Edwin’s Locarno Golden Leopard-winning Vengeance Is Mine, All Others Pay Cash.

Submissions deadline for mylab+@Jogja is October 3, 2023.
