France’s Tatino Films and Indonesian foundation Yayasan Cipta Citra are gearing up to launch the second edition of the LOCK Full Circle Lab, which is scheduled to take place in Jakarta, September 18-24.
The first edition of the lab was held in Jakarta in August 2019, but the event was put on hold during the Covid pandemic. It has now been revived under a three-year partnership with Indonesia’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology.
Tatino Films also runs the annual Full Circle Lab Philippines, which held its most recent edition in Clark, Philippines, in March 2023.
Yayasan Cipta Citra Indonesia is a foundation established by producer Meiske Taurisia, whose credits include Edwin’s Vengeance Is Mine, All Others Pay Cash, which won the Golden Leopard at Locarno Film Festival in 2021.
LOCK Full Circle Lab will focus on short films and features in development, with a special focus on accelerating the production of short films by matching emerging talents with experienced production companies.
Mentors for the lab include Australian producer James Hewison (Nitram), South African script consultant Mmabatho Kau, Polish producer Izabela Igel (The Hatcher), Belgium’s Wim Vanacker, who is a member of Cannes short film selection committee, Lebanese development head and script consultant, Antoine Waked, and Full Circle Lab director Matthieu Darras.
The lab has launched a call for projects with submissions open until July 31. Applications must be either short narrative films (maximum 15 mins) or features (minimum 70 mins).
LOCK stands for ‘Laboratorium Olah Cerita dan Kisah’, which in Indonesian means ‘Script and Story Processing Lab’.
