Hong Kong-based Celestial Tiger Entertainment (CTE) has announced the second original production for its horror and suspense channel Thrill, five-part anthology horror series 3AM, produced by Malaysian filmmaker Adrian Teh.
Teh is executive producing the series, which is directed by three Malaysian up-and-coming filmmakers: Heng Aik Siong, Ang Yee Sien and Yong Choon Lin. The cast includes Malaysian stars Coby Chong (A Promise To Love), Fabian Loo (Paskal) and Ruby Yap (Think Big Big).
The five episodes are linked by the common theme of vengefulness and karmic retribution happening at 3am. They include stories about a woman out to seek revenge for her spouse’s cheating; a newcomer at work who offends the ghosts in his office building; and a girl who kills innocents as part of a revenge plan.
The series will premiere worldwide exclusively on Thrill every Monday at 21:00 from October 3 in the run-up to Halloween.
Teh is one of Malaysia’s busiest filmmakers with recent films as director including psycho thriller The Assistant, which premiered at this year’s Far East Film Festival in Udine, Italy, and series including Paskal for Netflix. He was also a producer on Hairul Azreen’s Ada Hantu 2 and is currently shooting action film Malbatt in Turkey.
“This is our second collaboration with Adrian Teh of Act 2 Pictures in Malaysia, and we are pleased to see it grow into a bigger project involving a bigger cast and crew,” said Ofanny Choi, CEO of Celestial Tiger Entertainment.
“We are thrilled to be working again with Celestial Tiger Entertainment on this new project for Thrill with 3AM. Apart from horror, we have also tried to incorporate elements of suspense, supernatural, emotional conflict and social events into the series, as we hope to bring richer stories to the audience,” said Teh.
CTE operates a bouquet of pan-Asian channels including Celestial Movies, Thrill, KIX and Miao Mi. The company previously partnered with Teh on two-part show Model Family, which premiered over Halloween in 2020.
Apart from being broadcast on Thrill in Asia, 3AM will air on KIX in Africa via various pay-TV platforms and online streaming service, Showmax, in early 2023. It will also be available on Thrill’s partner streaming platforms in Southeast Asia, and on various platforms under an exclusive distribution deal with LYD in South Korea.
