Celestial Tiger enters original production with ‘Model Family’

Hong Kong-based Celestial Tiger Entertainment (CTE), which operates a bouquet of pan-Asian TV channels, has announced its first original production in partnership with Malaysian filmmaker Adrian Teh.

Produced for CTE’s Thrill channel, focused on horror, suspense and thrillers, the two-part show, Model Family, will premiere worldwide exclusively on Thrill on October 31 (Halloween) and November 7.

Starring Malaysia’s Uriah See, Thor Yin Wei and Kendra Sow, the show revolves around a single-parent family moving into a new neighbourhood where everyone’s life seems perfect. However, each family is harbouring dark secrets and nothing is really as it seems.

Uriah See is a singer-actor who won the Astro Star Quest Chinese singing competition in Malaysia and TVB International Chinese New Talent Singing Championship in Hong Kong.

Model Family is an ambitious project by Adrian and his team of talented cast and crew, as the story pushes many boundaries in depicting the deep-seated emotions and dark impulses in human beings,” said CTE president Ofanny Choi.

“As we continue to lead the way in entertaining our horror fans across Asia with cutting edge, quality content, we believe the series will resonate well with our viewers.”

Teh explained that the show is his production company’s first production since Malaysia’s Covid-19 lockdown. “A lot of thoughts and effort went into developing the plot and telling the story, with last-minute changes done to the script right up to filming, so as to ensure we deliver the most impactful sense of fear and suspense to the audience.”

The Director’s Cut version of Model Family will also be available as a six-part series on Thrill’s selected partner streaming platforms in Asia following its TV premieres.

CTE is jointly owned by Saban Capital Group, Astro-owned Celestial Pictures and US studio Lionsgate.
