Pan-regional streamer Viu has teamed with Korean production house Victory Contents on Korean original drama River Where The Moon Rises, starring Kim So Hyun (The Tale of Nokdu) and Ji Soo (Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo).
The period romance, adapted from a Korean folktale recorded in The History Of The Three Kingdoms, will stream exclusively on Viu from February 15, 2021. The story follows a princess raised as a soldier as she attempts to uncover dangerous conspiracies in the kingdom, with the help of a general’s son.
Directed by Yun Sang Ho (Kingmaker: The Change Of Destiny), the drama is written and produced by Han Ji Hoon, whose writing credits include Women Of 9.9 Billion.
Viu chief content officer Virginia Lim said: “In 2021, we are excited to be investing in more original productions and especially Korean drama series which offer outstanding production quality, stunning cinematography and visual effects.”
Viu, which is operated by PCCW-owned Viu International, is available in 16 markets across Asia, the Middle East and South Africa with 36.1 million monthly active users (MAU) as of June 2020.
