Pan-regional OTT service Viu, operated by Hong Kong’s PCCW and Vuclip, has officially launched in Myanmar.

According to Viu Myanmar country manager Lavina Tauro, all the films and TV shows on the service will be fully subtitled in the country’s local language, Burmese. Viu carries a large volume of Korean content, including shows such as Running Man, The Heirs and Doctors, as well as Asian movies such as Thailand’s PeeMak and Indian horror film Bhaagamathie.

Viu also announced the launch of a partnership with Myanmar Net, one of Myanmar’s leading internet service providers. With Myanmar Net’s bundled pack called “A Wa Thone A Mone Kyi”, users will be able to access fixed-price content through unlimited data.

Tauro added: “Myanmar Net believes in our philosophy of having the consumer at the centre of the experience. Through this pack offered by Myanmar Net, we are enabling a rich consumer experience whereby they can watch their favorite content without worrying about data. We believe this partnership will help redefine the digital entertainment space in Myanmar.”

Viu is also available in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines and the Middle East countries of Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE.
