Streamlined Guides: Bringing The Global Content Business Into Focus

Posted by

As previously promised, Streamlined is launching a new content strand, Streamlined Guides, as a monthly subscription service. Paid subscribers to the Streamlined Guides will receive a monthly report with an easy-to-digest overview of market conditions, as well as lists of the major producers, investors, distributors, talent, funders and facilities, in a string of emerging film and TV industries around the world.

Since launching two years ago, Streamlined has had a mission to cover the underserved regions of the global content industries and help filmmakers and producers connect with their counterparts in every corner of the globe. As an extension of that service, Streamlined Guides will provide insights into how to work with emerging film and TV industries – what stage they are at; what challenges they currently face, and who are the most promising potential partners in each territory.

While Streamlined will continue to publish occasional free newsletters, there are many reasons for upgrading to the paid version.

Why subscribe?

  • You will receive a monthly deep dive into some of the planet’s most dynamic film and TV industries – territories that are often over-looked by existing North America and Europe-based trade publications.
  • You will gain access to Streamlined’s archives spanning back two years.
  • You will be contributing to a new kind of film industry journalism – one that is driven by the interests and passions of its readers, rather than the demands of advertisers, clickbait headlines and promotional copy masquerading as real articles.
  • You will be supporting a different perspective on the global film, TV and streaming industries – one that looks at the world from multiple angles and not just the interests of Western studios and streamers.
  • You will be joining a discussion about the best ways to protect the future of producers, filmmakers and other creatives – not just in North America and Europe (which are already protected by unions and legislation) but around the world.
  • You will have a say in what Streamlined researches and writes about – is there a subject you want to learn more about but can’t find enough credible information about, or just don’t have enough time to research? Then let’s talk..
  • You will also be contributing to the hiring and training of reporters in under-represented territories who will bring insider knowledge about all aspects of the global content industries – not just the parts that make money for Western media. Streamlined does not believe in helicopter journalism. If you don’t go, you won’t know.

You can enjoy all this for just US$8 a month, US$80 for an annual subscription and US$150 for a Founding Member subscription (Founding Members receive privileged follow-up queries on the Streamlined Guides).

Streamlined Guides will launch next week during the Cannes Film Festival with a two-part guide to the fast-emerging film and TV market of Vietnam, celebrating the selection of Vietnamese filmmaker Truong Minh Quy’s Viet And Nam in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard.

Some of Streamlined’s readers have already pledged to support the publication, for which I’m extremely grateful. Streamlined is created for and funded by its readers, not by advertisers, and will not be able to exist in the future without your support.
