Red Sea International Film Festival has selected 38 film and TV projects for this year’s Red Sea Souk Project Market, which has opened to filmmakers from across Asia for the first time.
The line-up includes projects that have been through the Red Sea Labs annual development programme within the Red Sea Lodge, in partnership with TorinoFilmLab and sponsored by Film Alula. The project market has also opened to episodic content for the first time, selecting seven series currently in development through Red Sea SeriesLab, in collaboration with Film Independent.
Before opening to Asia, Red Sea Souk Project Market focused on filmmakers from Africa and the Arab World. Asian projects accounted for 28% of this year’s total submissions. All selected projects will be considered for the Red Sea Souk and Red Sea Labs Awards, alongside a number of partner awards.
Red Sea Souk is being held December 7-11, in the city of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia, during Red Sea International Film Festival, which is scheduled for December 5-15.
