Rakuten Viki Stocks Up On Asian Movies Including 'The Suspect'

Rakuten Viki, a leading destination for Asian TV shows, is expanding its offering of Asian movies with a wide range of library titles across genres, including Korean action drama The Suspect, starring Gong Yoo (Train To Busan).

The Japanese-owned global streamer has also acquired Korean romcom Be With You (2018), starring Son Ye-Jin, and classic titles including Hong Kong action comedy Gorgeous (1999), starring Jackie Chan, and Peter Ho-sun Chan’s 1996 romantic comedy Who’s The Woman, Who’s The Man.

Sarah Kim, Rakuten Viki senior vice president of Content and Partnerships, said: “In response to a growing appetite for Asian films, we are excited to expand our selection of entertaining movie content. Our subscribers will be thrilled to have access to a vast new collection of movie titles across a variety of countries and languages.”

Other movies landing on the streamer include Korean titles A Violent Prosecutor, Midnight Runners and The Mimic, along with Hong Kong musical romcom Para Para Sakura. Rakuten Viki is best known for its Korean TV dramas, which have a global fanbase, and also streams content from Japan, China and Taiwan.
