Netflix has acquired worldwide rights to South Korean nuclear disaster movie Pandora, directed by Park Jung-Woo and financed by Next Entertainment World (N.E.W.).
Produced by CAC Entertainment, the film is about a disaster at a nuclear power plant in a small, quiet town when an earthquake unexpectedly hits. Kim Nam-gil (The Pirates) plays a man who risks his life to save his family and country from the impending atomic explosion.
The cast also includes Kim Young-ae (The Attorney), Jung Jin-young (Miracle of Cell No. 7) and Kim Dae-myeong (Misaeng).
Park previously directed science fiction horror thriller film Deranged (2012), about an infectious disease epidemic, for Korean studio CJ E&M.
N.E.W. was also behind the recent hit zombie movie Train To Busan, which has sold to many international territories and been a hit in South Korea and several other markets around the world.
Pandora will stream exclusively on Netflix to its members in 190 countries, excluding South Korea, in 2017. In South Korea, the film will be available to stream after its theatrical release.
