John Cho and Christine Ko will star in Netflix’s Tigertail, a feature film written and directed by Alan Yang, which starts shooting next week in New York and Taiwan.
The multi-generational drama follows a family from 1950s Taiwan to present-day America. The lead character, Grover, leaves Taiwan after a hard childhood to move to New York with Zhenzhen, a woman he doesn’t connect with.
In the present day, Grover looks back on his life and comes to realise how similar he is to his stubborn daughter.
Tzi Ma and Li Kunjue also star in the feature, which Yang is also producing with Poppy Hanks, Charles King and Kim Roth. Peter Pastorelli (Beasts Of No Nation) and David Lee (Life Of Pi) will executive produce.
Yang is the co-creator of Netflix series Master Of None with Aziz Ansari. Cho stars in acclaimed thriller Searching, which premiered at Sundance film festival and is currently on release in North America. Ko has credits including TV series Hawaii Five-O and Deception.
