JAFF Market Unveils Project Line-Up; Partners With Adelaide Film Festival

Posted by

JAFF Market, which is taking place for the first time this year as part of Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF), has announced the ten projects selected for JAFF Future Project (JFP), including eight from Indonesia and two from Australia.

The two Australian projects have been selected under a festival exchange programme between JAFF and Adelaide Film Festival, through which two members of each team will be brought to JAFF Market with support from the Australian government. Malaysia’s mylab has also recently joined the initiative as a collaborator.

JAFF Market is taking place December 3-5 in the city of Yogyakarta, Indonesia, during Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival, which is scheduled for November 30 to December 7.

“The AFF and Jogja NETPAC Asian Film Festival Exchange has been an incredibly satisfying experience, and I am confident that we have built relationships between our two country’s filmmaking communities that will see long-term, fruitful collaborations,” said AFF CEO & Creative Director Mat Kesting.

JAFF Market chairperson Ifa Isfansyah and mylab curator Lorna Tee said: “JAFF and mylab have previously worked with AFF with great pleasure and success in bringing Indonesian, Asian and Australian filmmakers and industry together. This year, with this brand-new collaboration between JAFF Market, mylab and AFF, where we welcome two film projects from Australia to JAFF Market, and connect the projects to the wider Indonesian and Asian industries, we are confident to see more fruitful connections and vibrant exchanges.”

JFP is headed by award-winning producer Meiske Taurisia (Vengeance Is Mine, All Others Pay Cash) with Yulia Evina Bhara, Muhammad Zaidy and Vivian Idris on the selection committee. Taurisia described the selection as “a diverse range of exciting feature film projects in early stages of development and gap financing, presenting a variety of genres that should cater to the appetites of various investors, producers and distributors, looking for stimulating film projects for their pipeline.”

Other partners of JFP include White Light Post (Thailand), Kongchak Studio (Cambodia), BSM Equipment (Indonesia) with more to be announced closer to the market dates
