ProducerLAND, a networking and training programme for Indian producers, is launching a premium project accelerator ‘Ascent’, with mentors including former Memento sales chief Tanja Meissner, German producer Roman Paul and Film Constellation’s Fabien Westerhoff.
The immersive three-module programme has selected six producers who will develop their projects for international markets and audiences. The modules will focus on Creative Producing, Audiences, Funding, Co-productions, Positioning, Markets, and Impact Producing.
The first module is a residency in Goa from January 29-Feburary 5, through which participants will interact with mentors and industry experts that have been brought on board to suit their specific projects, and develop them to be mounted internationally through the programme.
Meissner is the programme’s lead mentor and curator. In addition to Paul and Westerhoff, industry experts include UK-based producer Ajay Rai, BeirutDC director of programmes Farah Fayed, French producer Marc Irmer, programmer Kim Young-woo from South Korea, Todd Brown from XYZ Films, Christian Vesper from Fremantle UK, and Kashif Shaikh from US-based Pillars Fund.
“The programme will uniquely focus on ‘Native for Global’ stories, and voices that are locally anchored but have high potential to crossover into international markets,” said ProducerLAND programme director Celine Loop.
The six participating projects include two feature narratives, two documentaries and two series and are being led by experienced producers Aastha Singh, Anupama Mandloi, Arya Menon, Celine Loop, Chippy Babu and Ruchir Joshi.
ProducerLAND Ascent is an initiative of The Storiculture Company and supported by the French Institute in India.
