Indian streaming platform Eros Now has signed a deal with Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio to make its content available across the telecoms powerhouse’s soon-to-be-launched digital services.

In a statement, Eros Now parent company Eros International said its OTT services will “power the Jio On Demand entertainment offering”.

“This game-changing initiative will allow consumers to access the high quality Eros Now service within the Jio ecosystem,” the statement continued. “Jio will provide Eros Now with a great opportunity to acquire new subscribers throughout urban and rural India.”

Ambani has said he is investing $22.5bn in rolling out Reliance Jio’s 4G and broadband services, which will integrate entertainment and other content offerings, and are expected to be a game-changer for mobile video in India. Currently in test stages, the full Jio ecosystem is expected to launch around the Diwali holidays at the end of October 2016.

Eros Now has more than 44 million registered users in 135 countries, with most of its users in India. The platform is currently attempting to convert users to a pay model, with the aim of one million paying subscribers by the end of fiscal 2017.

Recent Eros International movie titles include Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, both starring Salman Khan, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastaani.
