FESTIVALS: ScreenSingapore Unveils Line-up Of 15 Projects

ScreenSingapore has announced the 15 Southeast Asian projects that have been selected for this year’s Southeast Asian Film Financing Conference (SAFF).

The line-up includes new projects from established directors such as Indonesia’s Ifa Isfansyah (The Dancer), the Philippines’ Mikhail Red (Birdshot) and Thailand’s Nontawat Numbenchapol (Boundary), along with the directorial debut of Malaysian producer Nandita Solomon (Bunohan).

Indonesia has been selected as the "Country of Focus" with five Indonesian projects selected for SAFF, which is jointly organised by ScreenSingapore and the Southeast Asian Audio-Visual Association (SAVVA).

Meanwhile, Fox APAC executive vice president Kurt Rieder and Martin McCourt, investment head at London Pacific Finance, will share insights at a keynote panel entitled "Bringing a Local IP into a Global State". Other speakers include Cannes Directors Fortnight programmer Benjamin Illos, Pingyao film festival artistic director Marco Mueller and Reliance Entertainment’s Dhruv Sinha.

As part of the Indonesian focus, Isfansyah will discuss development of the country’s burgeoning film industry with Krishnan Rajagopalan, co-founder of streaming service HOOQ and CEO of Whacked Out Media.

SAVVA executive director Justin Deimen said: "As we march onto our third edition, we continue to view the positive impact of SAFF within the regional filmmaking community and the network it creates for financiers, producers, and the rest of the ecosystem.

"The selection of projects and filmmakers we have this year at the SAFF Project Market is world-class and points to a deep pool of talent in Southeast Asia that will be showcased to international investors."

ScreenSingapore will take place November 28 to December 1 at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.
