Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) has selected 30 projects for this year’s Asian Project Market.

Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) has selected 30 projects for this year’s Asian Project Market, including several from filmmakers with strong ties to the festival returning with new projects.
Indian director Pradip Kurbah, recipient of the 2019 Jiseok Award for Market, is presenting his new project Moon, while The Last Of Them Plagues, from emerging Indian filmmaker Kunjila Mascillamani, is produced by Indian actress Kani Kusruti (All We Imagine As Light), who served on the New Currents jury at BIFF last year. Payal Kapadia, the director of Cannes Palme d’Or winner All We Imagine As Light, is also producing the project.
Another Indian actress, Alia Bhatt, and her sister Shaheen Bhatt are producing Soni Razdan’s Difficult Daughters, along with with Santosh producer Alex McAlex.
This year’s APM line-up also includes an Armenian project, Black Star Angel, directed by Christine Haroutounian (After Dreaming), five Chinese-language projects, three from Japan and seven from emerging and mid-career Korean directors. Southeast Asia is represented by projects from Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines and Vietnam (see full line-up below).
