Amazon Prime Video India has signed a deal with Lyca Productions for the exclusive digital premiere of Tamil blockbuster 2.0, starring Rajnikanth and Akshay Kumar.
Prime members will have access to watch the Tamil, Telugu and Hindi versions of the $90m 3D film, which marks Kumar’s first appearance in a South Indian production.
Directed by Shankar, the film is a sequel to Rajnikanth’s 2010 hit Robot (Endhiran) in which the star reprises his role of Dr Vaseegaran and the robot Chitti.
The film is scheduled for worldwide release on January 25, 2018. A promotional concert, featuring Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman, was held at Dubai’s Burj Park in October.
Established in 2014 by Subaskaran Allirajah, Lyca Productions is the movie production arm of the telecoms giant Lycamobile.
