Amazon Prime Video India is producing three local adaptations of hit US anthology series, Modern Love, which is based on the weekly column of the same name published by The New York Times.
Filmed in three Indian languages, the series will be titled Modern Love: Mumbai (Hindi), Modern Love: Chennai (Tamil) and Modern Love: Hyderabad (Telugu).
Modern Love first premiered on Amazon Prime globally in 2019 and was renewed for a second season, which premiered on August 13, 2021. Each episode varies from 29 to 35 minutes in length.
In a statement, Amazon said the series will feature adaptations of stories from the eponymous column, exploring different kinds of love including romantic, self-love, familial love, love towards ones’ friends, and love that emerges out of kindness among others.
“While these heartwarming stories are adapted from the famous New York Times column, they’re quintessentially Indian at heart, with the metropolitan cities of Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad serving as the perfect canvas,” said Aparna Purohit, head of India Originals, Amazon Prime Video.
Amazon’s Indian originals include Mumbai Diaries, The Family Man, Breathe: Into The Shadows, Bandish Bandits, Paatal Lok, Tandav, Mirzapur Season 1 & 2 and The Forgotten Army – Azaadi Ke Liye.
